Non Stop

Sorry i haven't blogged for a few days, I've been pre-occupied with creating other pages for the site. I've added a Tips & Techniques page and also about 5 minutes ago a Photo Gallery.

Taylor's meeting with his behavioural Psychologist was yesterday and it went great. She gave us lots of information, gave us a few phone numbers to ring to be put on mailing lists and also told us that he is entitled to DLA (Disability Living Allowance) and said she'd get in touch with a lady called Mary to come and help us fill in all the forms. About 2hrs after we'd got home i got a phone call off her saying she'll come this Friday at 3.30pm so i was really pleased as i didn't think they'd do anything until after Christmas.
Ailsa (psychologist) has put our names forward to a program called Early Bird and it's some kind of course for us to get involved in to help us gain better knowledge of ASD and how Taylor is thinking etc and also ways to cope with him when he appears to be misbehaving. Ailsa left a message for his Speech Therapist to get in touch with us to see what's going on, although she did day that they are having a really big review at the moment to see how more efficient they can be etc etc blahdy blah!! I got a phone call from her today saying she was looking into it for us and gave me a number to ring to see if i could get any more information from them direct, so my week is consumed at the moment with nothing but phone calls. I asked Ailsa about support groups and she said they did do one there at Holly House (CDC - Child Development Centre) but it had to be cancelled as a lot of people left and she was left to run it herself and couldn't cope on her own. She said they are setting it back up very soon and will ring me when they do. Taylor's Health Visitor came this morning and she was really helpful too. I asked her if she knew of any support groups locally that maybe Ailsa didn't know about and she informed me that her nephew is also on the Spectrum and said that she'd get in touch with her sister and see if she knew anybody running a group. She left around 11am and she rang me at around 1.15pm with a phone number of one that is running at our local baby clinic, so I'm going to ring that number tomorrow and get some more information. I am really very pleased with the way things are finally taking shape now it is all official and how quickly it's all happening although i do feel a bit in over my head at the moment.

Today has been a good day for us all. Taylor seemed fine that his Health Visitor came to the house instead of us going to see her. She is new, our old one left a few months back, which although she was very good was a relief to hear as Taylor didn't seem to like her very much. (We did, she was great!) He kept coming to the table and peeking at her through the back of the chairs then he said hello to her and he also said bye bye to her and waved too. He went to Nursery in a very good mood and was still in a good mood when we picked him up. He was very tired as once again he had a broken sleep last night and was up at 7.30am. I went to college at 6pm and when i got home Tony said he'd took Taylor with him to take Jonny to his mums and he fell asleep in the car on the way home so he put him straight to bed. Fingers crossed he'll sleep tonight. xXx
