Damn that bloody prorgamme!! Whoever invented Lazy Town seriously needs a rocket up their arse. It's annoying, stupid and some of them stunts that Sportacus does are damn near impossible!! I know it's a kids programme but they can't act yet Taylor thinks it's the best programme on TV and thinks Sportacus is the best thing in the world!! I must admit despite it's faults i DO like some of the songs they sing. Like most kids songs they're catchy and make you want to sing to them!! Taylor really likes watching it, he zooms around the room when Sportacus is peddling his airship and then he'll jump on and off the sofa's trying to copy Sportacus jumping around. He will spend the entire programme copying off what Sportacus does including repeating everything he says (sometimes he'll say it before Sportacus does, if it's one he's already seen before. He has a very good memory) It fascinates me to watch him pretending to be a Super Hero even after the programme has finished but i DO worry about him watching too many of these type of programmes (Tommy Zoom is another) i fear that one day he will try to recreate a scene he's watched and seriously hurt himself, but for the moment i'll keep watching him from a distance jumping around on the sofa's, rolling around the floor and walking across the back of the sofa's pretending to be these characters when he thinks i'm not looking!!! It's good for his imaginative play but scares the hell out of me sometimes!! Taylor has recently taken to singing a LOT but up until a few weeks ago we could hardly make out any words to anything he was singing. He started about 6 months ago singing to Bits & Bobs on Cbeebies and he was word perfect all the way through it, but he would only sing to it if it was on the TV at the time. Fortunately for us he will now sing all the time and i think it's really good as he pronounces his words perfectly every time, yet he struggles when he's talking to himself or trying to engage us in conversation. I find that strange because even when he's mimicking me (Echolalia) he is word perfect too. He picks a lot of what he says up off us and the TV so i would have thought his speech would have been almost spot on by now but he's still around 12 months behind, although he's caught up as 6 months ago he was 18 month - 2 yrs behind so i'm really pleased considering he's done it all himself without the aid of a Speech Therapist or anyone else other than at home and Nursery.
I would also like to report that (touch wood) Taylor appears to have forgotten his role of keeping moma & daddy awake all night, at least 3 nights a week!! For the past 4 weeks (this week) he has been asleep before 11pm and has slept right through the night until between 7-10am everyday, weekends included and i am so happy!! Especially last week and this week with Tony being away working, i thought we'd have had some problems with him but he's been great. He hasn't even asked for Tony since he's been away, except for 2ce. 1ce yesterday so i rang him when we got home and let him talk to him. He said "hello daddy, come and play" paused for a minute then said "ok gone now, awww where's Thomas?" gave me the phone and ran off into the living room to find Tomas, James & Percy!!! He said bye bye to him before i put the phone down but never bothered one bit at all. It's sad that he's not missing his daddy but it's good for me because once Tony comes home on Saturday, he has about 3 weeks before he has to go away again for a week working. He's been told not to do anymore after this next one for a few months now. I don't mind him doing them every now and then but not regularly.
Right well, it's 9.45am and Taylor woke up at 9am. He won't come down so i left him in his bedroom, watching Boo! DVD and playing with his Nintendogs!! He's having a whale of a time and would be up there all day if i let him. I'm going to get dressed, make a brew have a quick tidy up then go and get him. He's at Nursery at 1pm today and once we've dropped him off me and mum are going to have a ride onto Botany Bay in Chorley near Bolton (about 25-30min drive from our house) it's really good there, bit expensive though. We're on the look out for some BIG threading beads (wooden) for Taylor and so far we've looked everywhere but haven't been able to find any. Not even at Woolworths which was a shock. I would have thought they'd have had some. If anybody has any suggestions of shops or websites please email me (autism.help@hotmil.co.uk) ASAP thanks. xXx
