BBBRRR

I am seriously considering looking into moving somewhere else. Our housing association are really starting to wind me up summat rotten. Last Thursday our boiler packed up on us, so i rang the 24hr out of services number and was told it could take up to 3 days for them to send somebody out. I wasn't happy but let them go ahead and note the call out. On Friday i rang the Social Services to see if they were right what they said about the 3 days wait with us having Taylor in the house (under 5 and disabled) and they didn't know so i rang The Citizens Advice and they checked and said that yes they are right because apparently the law was changed a few months back. BUT if you have children under 5, disabled children/young people or adults and also elderly people in the household you can ring your housing association/landlord to arrange for them to give you a written consent form saying that, if anything goes wrong and you aren't prepared to wait the 3 days you can call an independent contractor to come fix the problem and they will then claim the money from the housing/landlord people or make you pay and you can claim the refund.

I rang our housing association and asked them and they said they wouldn't do it because it wasn't a major problem and it would be cheaper to make us wait and send their own people. Somebody came out and repaired the boiler Friday afternoon. Everything was fine then it went off again Fri evening/sat morning sometime. My husband rang them back up and they once more said 3 working days (weekends and bank holidays not included) which they hadn't said before when i rang, they just said 3 days. They also then said that it would be Monday (yesterday) before they sent someone as nobody was on call over the weekend, which is complete rubbish because the guy that came Friday rang his mate that was on call at weekend and told him if i rang them back up over the weekend to give us priority and he said yep no worries. The guy came again yesterday to fix the boiler and did allsorts to it, then decided it was the expansion valve that was the problem. Somewhere in the house (more than likely under the floor) we have one all mighty leak as the boiler was completely empty and shouldn't have been. Because the boiler has emptied itself completely every time we use the tap/flush the chain or use the washer the boiler has cut out to stop it overheating and knocks the heating and hot water off. He topped the tank back up and said it'd last a few hrs so switch heating on and warm the house up before it knocks off again, which it did. He was due to come back at 9.30am this morning to sort the problem, it's now 3.05pm and no sign of him so i ain't a happy bunny at all. Not only have we gone all weekend without hot water and heating and all day today, it's looking very much like we're gonna have another night the same unless he gets here before 5pm when they clock off. It's pathetic and I'm appalled by the way we are being treated. I've got a good mind to report them to the papers and disabilities discrimination act, i don't believe for one minute they can leave us without heating and hot water like they have been doing when we have a child in the house, what if he'd have been a new born baby? I bet they'd have come out to us then despite what they say about the 3 days wait. The monkey's running this country need bloody shooting!!
