I went to a football stadium on Tuesday for the 3rd time in my life (that i can remember anyways lol) to an ASD Seminar and it was really good and very useful. I went alone as mum had to pick Taylor up from school at 12pm for me. Hopefully that matter should be sorted soon, as it's parents evening on the 11th and I'm taking Tony with me to help reinforce the calm as I'm about ready to blow!!! Taylor seems to like his new support worker. In case i didn't mention in previous posts (i haven't checked) the last one he had is leaving to have a hip replacement so somebody else has been brought in from the outside and from what i can gather she's another one who hasn't had any experience with ASD's although she comes across as reasonably confident and he likes her too so that's a good start. She went for the morning on the Thursday they broke up for half term and started properly on Monday when they went back. I was nabbed yesterday when i went to pick him up at dinnertime as apparently he was in a bad mood and spent most of the morning hitting the teachers and her. I am starting to get really mad now as by the time I've picked him up he won't remember what the hell he's done or why, yet they expect me to discipline him like you would any other child. I'm also starting to wonder what the hell is going on in school to make him react that way as we hardly ever have any 'problems' with him at home these days. Yes he still has his moments but they are dealt with quickly and over in a few minutes. I seriously think they need some professional help and advice. His speech therapist is going in today along with Claire (Speech Therapist) from Broadfield. We've had dealings with Claire before and he loves her to bits and will do ANYTHING for her, so I'm hoping that she will work her magic today and show them just what he IS capable of when he's got the support and structure he needs. They are going in to teach them how to use his PECS properly and with them he will go a long way. They are taking him right back to basics with the 'I WANT' and building it up from there, so that should encourage him as he has mastered that brilliantly and doesn't need his visual queues for asking for what he wants but still a good idea to go back and refresh and also to show them that he is capable of learning and quickly too. I'll say that for Taylor, he has a bloody good memory and is always quick to learn something new, if you make it fun. He was reluctant to move on to his 'Now & Next' with his PECS...eg: Now - Drawing .. Next - Balloons etc he just wanted to go straight to the balloons as he loves them, but we got there with him eventually and with help from Claire!!!
Anyway, back to the football club!! I've only ever that i can remember been to 3 football stadiums/clubs. 1st: My 21st birthday, we had a fancy dress party at Accrington Stanley FC and it was fantastic and lots of fun!! 2nd: Blackburn Rovers FC, i went to the Blues Bar with Deb & Iain (lads mum & step dad) for night out about 3 weeks after i had Taylor!! Then Preston North End FC on Tuesday for the seminar!!! I'm not gonna go into detail about the seminar as to be honest it wasn't too much different than the Blackpool Seminar, plus a lot of what we covered will soon be entered into my new page. We covered the basics of what ASDs are, what triggers tantrums and how to 'handle' them and avoid them in the first place lol. I learnt a lot of this on the Early Bird course me and mum went on and i still stand by my every word and would definitely recommend it to anybody who has a child with ASD, it's brilliant, packed with information and if you're lucky like we were you get to meet some great, friendly people too. I have started another Blog (page) in the links section called ASD & Us - 1 Year On, but i haven't yet finished setting it all out on paper as to what I'm going to put in it. I get started then my mind goes blank as so much has changed in a year or something always crops up as usual lol. I will have it up and running in the next week, even if it's only a few paragraphs. At the moment it has [Under Construction] next to it on the link so keep an eye out as when that's disappeared it means there'll be something there to read!!! I would be grateful for your input and comments about the whole website not just that one page. How do you think i'm doing? Can anything be improved? etc etc. I don't take offense too easily so please feel free to speak openly and let me know if there's anything you would like to see more of or just let me know if i'm doing OK. My email address is posted at the top of every page on this website and you can email me anytime on it, i promise i will replay within a few days to all emails received. Thank you. xXx

Quick Update
Not much has happened this week, it's been a pretty chilled and quiet week as far as our weeks go lol.
Tuesday 8th July:
Had Speech Therapy at 11.15am and was really nervous as last time we went he threw a chair at her, bit her and kicked her numerous amounts of times. Surprisingly it went very very well. Claire the Speech Therapist Co-ordinator for Autistic children and young adults came to the session and worked her magic like last time lol. He was about 80% co-operative this time but we got along way with him in a short space of time and he was calm and although he had a few tantrums he did very very well and is now happily progressing onto the now and next stage of his PECS steadily.
2.30pm
We went to see Dr Khine, Taylor's Paediatrician for a routine check up and she was happy with his progress and couldn't believe the change in him from whens he saw him in October last year at his diagnosis meeting. He did everything she asked of him (last time he completely ignored her) and we asked her to check his feet as people have been telling us he's possibly Dyspraxic. She had him running around barefoot and jumping, skipping and standing on one foot, although on the last 2 he failed miserably lol. She said his running skills are a little delayed for his age but then when she examined his feet she realised it is due to the fact he hasn't yet developed the arches under his feet hence why he is so clumsy and has issues with his feet and running/walking on tip toe's. She said not to worry and they will naturally form by the time he is 5/7 yr old. She advised us to keep him in soft shoes like P.E pumps, slippers and canvas shoes so they don't hurt his feet or try moulding/shaping them too soon. I told her about him walking on the side of the inside of his feet and she said it's perfectly normal in that situation and not to worry too much, he will grow out of it and it won't leave any long lasting problems.
All in all Tuesday was a very good day lol. He had a bit of a bad night on Tuesday though, so he was very tired on Wednesday but was very good at Nursery. Thursday Sheila from Early Bird course came to do his home video. I had him stood at the kitchen sink playing with water and toys. Sounds fairly boring but it kept him calm and a lot went on. It showed how much his speech, imaginative and communication skills have developed and she was really impressed. It's the last session next week and I'm gutted!!!
Went to town today to get all his party things ready for Sunday. 3 days until his birthday (we're having party a day early) and he will be at Nursery on his birthday so mum bought him a t-shirt from Asda saying It's My Birthday on it to wear for Nursery that day lol. I will post again either Sunday or Monday and let u know how the party went!!
Take care, keep smiling and enjoy your weekend. xXx
