I have come across a brilliant website today via a friend. We went for a brew this afternoon and she showed us an information file for her son's information and sections for progress reports, meetings etc. It's absolutely brilliant and it's also free. The website address is http://www.earlysupport.org.uk on the home page there is a little section of links on the left hand side. Go to the materials section and go down to order form. It will take you to a page where you can fill out all your details and quantities of the family pack & file and other information you may require too. It is free of charge and no subscription is required as I've just done it myself and ordered 2 family pack files and booklets of all kinds of things myself. Also on the website you can download and print extra pages for your file separate which is very handy if like us you have a lot of information to write about. It is supported by Sure Start and they are brilliant. Taylor used to go to some sessions there as a baby and also played in their space centre which is fantastic for children with sensory issues or just to have an hours play time somewhere different. They charge 50p a session and it's great fun!!!
Also my friend gave us the website for the Makaton Sign Language it is http://www.makaton.org where you can sign up for a free newsletter and find out information about the Makaton Sign Language which is also used in the Something Special programme on Cbeebies by Justin (Mr Tumble) it is really good to use, Taylor loves the Something Special programme and Mr Tumble and he copies some of the signs they use and uses them in everyday situations himself. My friend has been allocated a place on a Makaton Course where she and another family member or friend involved with her son can go and learn how to use it themselves and teach her son how to use it too. I think i will get in touch with Taylor's speech therapist (or wait until our meeting on the 3rd April) and request a place on the course too. Taylor will be more than happy to learn sign language rather than go back to using his PECS system which she is insistent on him going back to using all the time (which I'm not happy about)
I hope these links are as useful to you as they have been to me.xXx
